It has belatedly been revealed that singer IU once earned more than $17,000 after singing just one song.

A post titled ‘Amazing IU, earns 20 million KRW (~$17,600 USD) in 2 minutes‘ recently surfaced on an online community site, drawing interest from fans all over.

The netizen was referring to the 2012 broadcast of MBC‘s ‘New Life For Children‘, a fundraising telethon concert program that airs on May 5th every year. It was here that IU served as a guest performer and sang the children’s folk song “Thick Clouds“. Right before IU started singing the song, the total donation collections amounted to around 28,000 KRW (~$247), but towards the end of the song, the donations had risen to an impressive 20 million KRW, shocking everyone on set.

Netizens who later found out about this remarked, “This is the skill of the nation’s little sister“, “20 million KRW in 2 minutes?!”, and more.
