The latest episode of MBC‘s music competition program ‘I Am a Singer 2‘ saw yet another round of amazing performances, with some of South Korea’s most powerful singers putting on world-class stages.
Although all of the singers gave powerful performances, it was veteran artist Byun Jin Sup who nabbed the win for this round with a cover of Kim Soo Chul‘s 1983 classic, “Byulli”.
Byun Jin Sup’s cover uses traditional Korean instruments – known as gukak - combined with a slower tempo and a gentle, soulful beat. In harmony with the singer’s emotion-filled voice, his cover conveys a powerful message of sadness, loss, and hope.
