It’s that time of year again. The wind is blowing harder, the sky is getting grayer, and the yellow and orange leaves are starting to tumble into your path. Summer is long gone, and without it, you find yourself wrapping up in thicker layers and confronting a chill that only foreshadows the cold you will soon feel come winter. It’s Fall, and you may not be very happy about the fact. Maybe you’re not the type of person who really enjoys this depressing kind of weather. Maybe you just miss the summer heat, the summer beach, the summer fun.
Fall, however, is a great season on its own, and as you survey your surroundings, you may just need some calming, soulful tunes to help you see the somber beauty of it. In this edition of Music Therapy, allkpop presents a playlist to help get you started.

PART 1: Alone in the Rain
Epik High’s “Umbrella” ft. Younha: Autumn rainfall tends to be particularly gloomy and gray, so why not listen to some slow, piano songs that highlight its strangely sad charm? Epik High’s melancholy rapping and Younha’s soft vocals will especially have you appreciating the pitter-patters of the rain, and may even make you a bit contemplative and emotional, as they sing about the loneliness of being without the person they love, their figurative “umbrella”.
Hook:
One [day] new rainwater pooled around my ankles and
the tears that I held back pooled up in my eyes and
I cry.Chorus:
You are the umbrella above my head.
The cold, raining night [sky] above my shoulders.
And I, who has become too used to you being by my side,
I can’t [live] without you.
Alone in the rain.

PART 2: The Autumn Cold
Sunny Hills’ “Pray”: Although it’s not the blasting, finger-numbing cold of the winter, autumn has a chilliness to it that will have you shivering in your jacket and boots. In situations where you find that you have no choice but to stand in the unbearable cold, take a listen to Sunny Hills’ song, as their soft and breezy vocals reflect the harsh winds you will have to face, but also add a haunting, tragic, yet pretty quality to the freezing weather.
Chorus:
Wake up the me who has frozen,
Turn the time that has frozen.
Like yesterday, show only me that smile. The concealed sadness is squeezing out,
the concealed pain is rising.
“Let’s break up,” those words are not, not, not, not it.
Additional Recommendations:
2NE1 – “It Hurts”
GDragon – “That XX”
PART 3: The Changing Colors
Ivy’s “Goodbye Tears”: Despite the dominating, sad weather, there is at least one bright characteristic to appreciate about autumn–the colorful leaves. And Ivy’s particularly uplifting tune, powerful vocals, and hopeful lyrics about changing into a better person seem to especially fit this aspect of the season, as you admire the leaves and their strange ability to change from green to even more beautiful shades.
Chorus:
I won’t cry, I won’t ever look like an ugly fool again,
because this is a heart that has grown as much as it has been pained.
Even though it’s hard, could you stay by my side so that my heart can lean against you?
To my yesterday, to my scars, to my tears, I now [say], “Goodbye”.
