The world-renowned magazine Rolling Stone gave a rare K-Pop review for G-Dragon’s “Crayon,” giving it 3 out of a total of 5 stars.
In the short review published on October 10, Rolling Stone wrote, “A smashing synthesis of pidgin rap, EDM head rush and YOLO ‘tude: The token “pretty boy” rapper from K-pop crossover comers Big Bang drops a Joker laugh line (“Why so serious?”) and a Kanye contraction (“cray”) over a zooming Seoul nightclub beat, for a Korean-English mishmash that scans like an international student’s peak-hour Facebook feed.”
On the “Community” rankings, however, G-Dragon received a perfect five stars, showing his global appeal with his latest single.
Netizens commented, “Finally, G-Dragon gets recognized by Western media,” “He needs to make his U.S. debut as soon as possible,” and “Why so serious man?”
