SHINee's hit song "Dream Girl" is under fire for plagiarism.

As of April 1st, there have been online message boards filled with netizens speculating that SM Entertainment-produced song "Dream Girl" was plagiarized off of a song called "Vuelve" by a famous Spanish singer Luis Miguel, released on his album "33" on September 30, 2003.

On a side note, "Dream Girl" was released February 19th of this year.

Many netizens are saying that the entire melody sounds awfully similar to "Dream Girl", especially the chorus.

Spanish netizens were the first to shed light on this, pointing fingers at SHINee for singing a plagiarized song via YouTube. Videos comparing the two songs became so widespread that it caught the attention of Korean netizens as well.

Some netizens are arguing that perhaps SM had bought the copy rights for the Spanish song and sampled some of it on SHINee's track.

However, the other side of netizens are backfiring saying that had that been the case, Luis Miguel's "Vuelve" would've been credited on the album.

When comparing the team behind "Dream Girl", the list reads Shinhyuk, DK, Jordan Kyle, Ross Lara, and Dave Cook. This is nothing like the list of names behind "Vuelve": Alejandro Asesi, Edgar Cortazar, Luis Miguel, and Francisco Loyo.

SM Entertainment has since posted up on its official website: "'Dream Girl" is the product of world-recognized pop star Justin Bieber's producer Shin-hyuk, and the production team Joombas Music Factory."

An SM rep has also said via a phone interview, "We have neither bought the copy rights to a foreign song or sampled another song. This is purely an SM creation. Allegations that ["Dream Girl"] was plagiarized is only a portion of the public's opinions. The melody and the chords are different, thus it's absolute nonsense that people are saying its plagiarised. The conditions of plagiarism don't apply here."
