YG Entertainment was the dominant player on YouTube in Korea for this year.
With 21 days left in 2012, the current records on YouTube indicate that the top three most popular videos from Korea for the year belong to YG's top artists, Psy and Big Bang.
As of December 10th at 2 PM KST Psy's viral music video "Gangnam Style" had a staggering 923,582,430 views, putting it in first place. The 2nd place honors went to the spin-off rendition of "Gangnam Style" featuring 4minute's Hyuna, titled "Oppa, You're Just My Style", trailed significantly behind with 185,157,922 views. Big Bang's "Fantastic Baby" music video was able to garner 54,495,880 views, enough to place it within the top three..
However, "Gangnam Style" isn't just number one in Korea. The international hit was acknowledged as the most popular music video in the world. It's gained quite a following in countries such as the US, France, Australia, the UK, etc. The video "Oppa, You're Just My Style" was actually Psy's way of showing his appreciation to his fans, featuring Hyuna who also danced alongside the rapper in the original video.
As for Big Bang, various other videos from their releases this year made it into the top 10 YouTube videos from Korea: "Blue", "Bad Boy", and "Monster" placing 3rd, 6th, and 9th, respectively.
Alongside these videos, f(x)'s "Electric Shock" music video, TaeTiSeo's "Twinkle" video, Hyuna's "Ice Cream", and 2NE1's "I Love You" also were honored within the top 10 ranking.
