Super Junior Tops Taiwan Music Chart For 100 Weeks

Super Junior still dominates. Especially in Taiwan.

The popular group has topped Taiwan's music chart for 100 weeks, setting a new record.

To do the math, "Mr. Simple" off of their 5th album has been number one on the KKBOX Korean Music Top 100 chart up until the most recent released chart for the fourth week of April. That marks 37 consecutive weeks that it has been number one. KKBOX is the largest compilation of music ranking in Taiwan.

This comes on the heels of their success for the song "Bonamana" off of their 4th album. "Bonamana" was number one on the same chart from the first week of June in 2010 until the second week of August in 2011, for a total of 63 consecutive weeks.

With "Mr. Simple" having immediately replaced "Bonamana" in the top slot, that means Super Junior has been the number one artist for 100 weeks, the longest for any artist.

The group expressed their gratitude, "We're happy and honored that we were #1 for 100 weeks straight. It's an amazing record. We want to thank our fans once again. We'll continue to work hard as Super Junior."

Super Junior will be kicking off their world tour, Super Show 4, hitting up Japan on May 12-13th. They will perform at the large venue, Tokyo Dome, for an expected audience of 100,000 people.
