Yang Hyun Suk, the CEO of YG Entertainment, couldn’t hide his fatherly smile watching one of his singers perform on stage.
On March 10, Lee Hi made a special appearance on SBS’s audition program “K-Pop Star 2” where the episode showed the performances of the “Top 6.” Lee Hi was the runner up from the previous season and is arguably the most successful contestant to cross over to the entertainment industry.
On this day, she performed her latest title track “It’s Over” for the first time. Lee Hi has become much more comfortable showing various facial expressions and more fluid body movements while performing the choreography.
Yang Hyun Suk, who produced her latest album, said, “To be honest, I’ve seen her practice the choreography many times at the rehearsal room, but I feel awkward seeing her perform here after a long time. Lee Hi lost a lot of weight, but please don’t misunderstand. I’ve never told her to lose weight. Rather, she has extraordinary self discipline.”
Judge BoA also added, “I watched her perform as a contestant in ‘K-Pop Star Season 1,’ but I now feel like I’m watching a singer on TV. It’s interesting. Lee Hi lost so much weight and has gotten prettier.”
Lastly, Park Jin Young shared, “If it’s singing, it’s singing. If it’s visuals, it’s visuals. She naturally has half sound, half air and the producing was good. To be honest, she was a little sloppy during ‘1,2,3,4,’ but she has now become a true singer.”
