The five members of Dalmatian recently sat down for an interview with No Cut News to discuss their ‘State of Emergency ‘ comeback.

With Dari ‘s enlistment, Day Day ‘s departure, and Simon ‘s addition, the group has undergone some heavy changes in the past year that has dramatically changed their group dynamics. Gone is the cute image they had lingering under their hip hop flair, as they’ve returned with a completely masculine look that fits them like a glove.

They began, “Before, although we’re not that cute, we tried to act as cute as we could. This time, it feels like we’re wearing clothes that fit us perfectly. It’s like we’re able to show a more genuine side. While preparing the concept for a year and three months, we wanted to show how much we’ve changed. We all worked out for a year to look more masculine, even if it meant having to skip out on singing practice (laughter).”

One Way ‘s Chance became the last factor in completing Dalmatian’s final image. The entire album is produced by him with participation from the Dalmatian members.

Inati said, “I’ve been friends with Chance since elementary school. He knows the type of music style that we want so we just trusted him through and through. He’s not the type to call often but he kept calling saying that the songs were all sounding great. Also, he usually only tells people that they did ‘okay’, but he complimented our recordings, which was a great source of strength.”

On the topic of their member changes, Simon expressed, “I’ve been with Dalmatian since the planning stages, and I always monitored their promotions thinking that things weren’t living up to their efforts and potential. When I finally joined the team, I felt that they were all psychologically exhausted. I knew that I couldn’t add to that so I tried to approach them positively and brightly.”

Youngwon stated, “For motivation, we wrote ‘Dalmatian Public Broadcast #1′ in the middle of our living room. We tried to change ourselves from the inside out, and Simon joining became a big part of that. No matter how long it took, we were determined to spend this time meaningfully and without regrets.”

Jisoo added, “Our team has gotten a lot stronger. The time in which we spent finding what was most precious to us was so long, so it was a time where we learned a lot. Since we practiced so much, we’ve gained a lot of confidence. The members just rely on each other that much more, and I think out of all of the times we’ve spent together, this was the most meaningful.”

Daniel concluded, “Before, I used to think that we could release an album if we rehearsed and prepared enough. Through this opportunity, however, I’ve realized just how much inner growth is needed for just this one album to be released. I want to be able to communicate with our fans as fast as possible now.”
