Kara is the third Korean group to sell over a million singles in Japan! Following in the steps of BoA and DBSK, Kara is the first Korean girl group to achieve this.
The group’s sixth Japanese single, Speed Up/ Girl Power, which was released last March had 155, 177 copies sold leading them to the total album sales of 1,000,999 copies of all six singles. Kara has attained this impressive feat two years since their entry into the Japanese market.
Compared to their predecessors, DBSK and BoA, Kara has taken the shortest time to reach this. BoA was able to sell over a million copies after ten singles while DBSK released 24 singles in a span of three years before attaining this. Both artists truly led the way for other Korean artists and groups to enter the Japanese market.
Meanwhile, Kara is set to perform at the “MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia 2012” this July 14 with Justin Bieber, Jay Park and Malaysian singer-songwriter, Mizz Nina.
