Davichi’s Kang Min Kyung is beautiful, sexy, and a talented singer. However, she is currently under fire for appearing in “Gilette” commercials that are a bit too suggestive. Now in the past, Kang Min Kyung has had a few run-ins with sexy before these infamous commercials.
At one time, she did a sexy dance during a concert that was a bit… awkward.
Then she did sexy right in another concert, dancing to Brown Eyed Girls’ “Abracadabra.”
Later she appeared in a “Miero Fiber” commercial where she is shown looking cute and sexy.
But my dear children, all of that was a buildup to the new “Gillette” commercials which really just go over the top.
The commercials are basically a “point of view” experience where you get to visually see what it would be like if you were her boyfriend.
In this clip, you have secretly visited Kang Min Kyung and she is hiding you inside of her dressing curtains.
In the next clip, you can only hear sounds and basically Kang Min Kyung is shaving your face for you, but while she is doing that she makes some… risqué sounds.
In this clip, you are in a room with Kang Min Kyung and kiss her on a sofa. This clip is being called the “pre-porno” clip because it almost looks like the beginning of a pornographic film.
Because of these clips, Kang Min Kyung is currently under fire and Koreans are saying that she has gone too far. After the commercials were posted on January 21, 2013 and stirred up controversy. According to the Korean public, the commercials are too racy.
Kang Min Kyung’s agency Core Contents Media recently made an official statement regarding the commercials. They stated, “Kang Min Kyung was promised that these commercials would be released as online advertisements after ‘Gilette’ and her agency had enough discussions. Currently that promise has not been kept and she is very upset.”
The next comment seems to be from Kang Min Kyung herself, “I believe that ‘Gilette’ has thought it through and decided to release the commercials. I have no power. I respect the decision and judgment of ‘Gilette.’ My only wish is that a good commercial clip was created.”
Hmm lightningstix is very confused here. So it would seem like “Gilette” made a promise regarding the release of these commercials but they did not keep it? If so, the correct response from the agency would be a lawsuit. Also, it probably was blatantly obvious that controversy in this case was inevitable. It’s obvious that these commercials were trying to be suggestive and racy! Playing dumb will only worsen the situation. If what the agency is trying to say is true, how dumb do you have to be to appear in a commercial where you are heavily breathing (In an obviously sexual way), kissing the camera, and acting like the camera is your boyfriend and think that it won’t be deemed racy?
lightningstix thinks Kang Min Kyung should own up to her sexiness, and say something like “I hope you enjoyed the commercials.”
I wonder if Korea will ever be ready for commercials like this…?
