Happy Mother’s Day: Actors and Actresses Edition

Go to site

Happy Mother’s Day! Actually, in Korea, there is technically no Mother’s Day — both mother and father are honored on Parents’ Day, on May 8. However, since our favorite Korean actors and actresses have fans all over the world, we’re going to take the time here to honor their sweet moms who are, after all, responsible for their existence. Let’s begin!

Parents’ Day isn’t even an official holiday in Korea, but that didn’t stop Jang Geun Suk from displaying his filial side and taking his dear old mom out for a barbecue dinner and giving her flowers. What a good son! And this wasn’t just a one-time deal — his mom makes a regular appearance in Jang Geun Suk’s personal Twitter. Apparently they’re very close. Can you see the resemblance?

(Just for fun, here’s another photo from Jang Geun Suk’s Twitter featuring both of his parents, this one taken during brunch.)

Daniel Henney’s mom is one of the few K-Drama moms who’s more likely celebrating Mother’s Day instead of Parents’ Day — she’s a Korean American adoptee who lives in Michigan. Thank you, Mrs. Henney!

Lee Min Ho and his lovely… is that his mom? She could pass as his older sister!

And who might these folks be? They’re the family of Kim Tae Hee — dad, mom, and sister. Stunning looks do run in that family, as we also know from her brother, actor Lee Wan.

We actually think she resembles her father a bit more… do you see it?

An adorable old photo of Kim Soo Hyun and his mom. Aw.

Fans of the Goguma couple will undoubtedly recognize these screenshots — they’re from the episode of “We Got Married” in which Seohyun and Yonghwa travel to his hometown of Busan to meet his mom. During lunch, Yonghwa’s youthful-looking mom gave her new “daughter-in-law” some encouragement regarding their relationship: “You’re doing well!”

If you don’t read Korean, you may never guess whose these people are — the parents of ultimate heartthrob Won Bin. Mom and Dad are retired in Gangwon-do, living in a luxurious modern home that their son had built for them.

All right, perhaps we don’t see the resemblance:

What’s just as cute as this photo of Park Shin Hye and her mom both rocking trendy oversized sunglasses was the response it warranted from Jang Geun Suk on her Twitter: “Jangmo-nim, hello!” he tweeted. (Jangno-nim is the Korean word for mother-in-law.) Clearly Jang Geun Suk reminisces fondly on his “You’re Beautiful” days!

This could be any typical Korean family portrait… except wait, the guy embracing his parents is Kwon Sang Woo.

The proud family of Yoon Eun Hye during her college graduation. We definitely see the resemblance between the actress and her beautiful mom!

Eugene invited her equally stunning mom to make an appearance on her talk show, “Get It Beauty.” All we can say is, “Wow!”

Last but not least, if you look closely enough, you might be able to tell that the well-dressed woman in this photo is the mother of Park Yoochun. Yoochun is famous in Korea for being adored by mothers throughout the nation — but we think it’s safe to say that no one loves him as much as his very own mom!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there — including yours!
